Introducing Maura Schray
Hello my name is Maura! I am a senior majoring in political science here at USC. I am from Nazareth Pennsylvania which is a small town about an hour north of Philly. I am taking this class for my minor which is Law and Society. I just added my minor this past year when I had to change my it from mandarin because I could no longer study abroad in China due to the virus. Instead I went to Amsterdam which was a whirlwind of an experience that also ended up being cut short, but I wouldn't change it if I could.
I think this new minor fits my goals pretty perfectly, I hope to go to law school and study international law next year. My overall goal is to work in transitional justice for the victims of war crimes. I found this passion while visiting the international criminal court in The Hague, along with the Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
I am the youngest of four children and my family is very important to me. We also have a dog named Tonks (if you get that Harry Potter reference we will get along). I miss them a lot while this far from home but I think going to college far from where I was raised has given me great new perspectives on things. Its also introduced me to wonders of the world like Cook Out and Bojangles and for that I am grateful.
To close I’ll tell you some fast facts about me. I Love to ski, I’ve been an instructor since I was 14 and have matching mountain tattoos with my siblings. I love music festivals, this summer was the first time since I was 16 I didn't go to one. I am learning how to knit, I’m not good at it but I think it is pretty fun. I don’t eat dairy, I’ve tried to be a vegan but it just does not work for me. Lastly I’m a big time caffeine addict, mostly in the form of coffee and coca-cola. Thanks for reading I’m really looking forward to our class!
